Visit of the Student Section of the Jagiellonian Research Center for African Studies at the Africanist Museum in Olkusz

On March 18, 2023, the Africanist Museum in Olkusz hosted JU students from the Student Section of the Jagiellonian Research Center for African Studies. It was the first visit of the planned meetings during which students will be able to do their internships. Ms. Ewa Wołoszyn from the Africanist Museum showed our students the Museum’s exhibition (including artefacts of Dogon and Tuareg cultures) and presented the upcoming tasks that will be jointly realized as part of cooperation agreement between our units. The students had an unusual opportunity to look into the Museum’s warehouses, as well as to try to catalog the Museum’s collections, which turned out to be quite a challenge, but also a great fun. We hope that soon the result of this and subsequent visits will be descriptions of “found treasures”, which will allow us to get to know the Museum’s collections better, and our students will certainly come back to Olkusz more than once.
