December 4 at 6.00 p.m. in the Samuel Bogumił Linde Hall at the University of Warsaw Library, there will be a book promotion meeting organized on the publication of Jan Czekanowski's journal of anthropological and ethnological research “Przez Rwandę, Toro, Bunioro i terytoria Azande. Dziennik badań Jana Czekanowskiego w Afryce Centralnej w latach 1907-1909” [Through Rwanda, Toro, Bunyoro, and Azande Territories. Journal of Jan Czekanowski’s research in Central Africa in the years 1907-1909]. The publication by Polish Academy of Learning is a new critical edition and translation of the anthropologist’s diary from his expedition to Africa, one of the co-editors of the volume is JRCAS member prof. Joanna Bar.

Among the guests of the meeting will be members of the editorial team: prof. Joanna Bar, Krystyna Brzezińska, M.A., Dr. Eugeniusz Rzewuski and prof. Michał Tymowski.

The presentation of the book will be accompanied by an exhibition of 14 photographs by Jan Czekanowski taken during his African expedition. The photos are normally unavailable to the public and are stored in the warehouse of the Manuscript Cabinet of the University of Warsaw Library.
