Inauguration of the JRCAS Student Section

On March 15, 2023, a meeting was held between the Jagiellonian Research Center for African Studies Director, prof. Robert Kłosowicz, the Secretary of the Center, Dr. Joanna Mormul and a group of students interested in Africa. The meeting was an official inauguration of the JRCAS Student Section and an opportunity to discuss the principles of the Section’s activity within the Center, as well as plans for its future development. Among the upcoming initiatives there are: familiarization with the collections owned by the Africanist Museum in Olkusz, students’ active participation in the “Night of Museums 2023”, meeting with the author of the book “Touch of Africa. Travel stories”, Mrs. Beata Lewandowska-Kaftan. The students will also participate in internships by helping to catalog and describe the collections of the Africanist Museum in Olkusz. Another element of the Section’s activity will be organization of seminars, conferences or academic meetings with African Studies researchers or representatives of African communities, both from the world of culture and politics. The Section’s activity will also include preparation and realization of research projects within the JRCAS.
