Visit of the Jagiellonian Research Center for African Studies researchers at the University of Ostrava

On August 29-31 this year researchers from the Jagiellonian Research Center for African Studies (Prof. Robert Kłosowicz and Dr. Joanna Mormul) stayed in Ostrava, where they visited JRCAS partner institution - the Department of Human Geography and Regional Development (Katedra Sociální Geografie a Regionálního Rozvoje) of the University of Ostrava. The visit was part of the research grant “Socio-political transformations in the African Great Lakes region in the postcolonial perspective” (Competition for the international grant proposals under the PRA FutureSoc, ID.UJ), which is being realized together with a researcher from the University of Ostrava, Dr. Kateřina Ženková Rudincová. In addition to the research team’s work in connection with the project, there was also a meeting with the Head of the Department, Prof. Petr Rumpel, as well as talks with other researchers affiliated at the Department, during which possibilities and further plans for scientific cooperation in the framework of the recently signed cooperation agreement between the Jagiellonian Research Center for African Studies and the Department of Human Geography and Regional Development of the University of Ostrava were discussed.
